Texas Uprising is a public art installation located on the eastern grounds between the Blue Star Arts Complex andthe banks of the San Antonio River. The installation, comprising two separate works, mediates the merging of the technological and industrial characters of the converted industrial warehouses of the complex and the biological and organic nature of the river and wildlife along it.
Motion sensors track passersby, vehicular and pedestrian, and respond with flickering diodes set within fiberglass skins and floodlights set within the installations. Without human or machinic interaction the installations remain inert sculpture.
