The first external communication of an exhibition is its press materials. In addition to letterhead and envelopes, the design studio produces a variety of publicity materials. One is the invitation to the opening reception (1), in this case a trifold that incorporates the curatorial theme of "one trade, three cities." Others include a press kit folder (2), which utilizes one of the rare instances where Irving Penn also photographed the back of a subject, and a press preview invitation (3), in this instance the image coordinates with the exhibition catalog cover.
